Since Labour came to power in 1997, public spending as a percentage of GDP has increased by 2.4%. This is the highest of any G7 country, which on average achieved a reduction of 1% over the same period.
The BOM FACTFILE supports the main Burning Our Money blog by collecting together useful charts, figures, and links on public spending. It will be added to over time.

Public spending has increased because people voted for Labour to spend more on public services, that after 18 Tory years of cuts, were falling apart.
I bet people don't vote them in again!
In addition I bet that a lot of that money was spent on quangos and the like.
